There are so many great lakes close to our store in Sun Peaks, BC including Shuswap Lake.

Shuswap Lake is a large freshwater lake located in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, Canada. It is the largest lake in the Thompson-Okanagan region and is known for its stunning natural beauty, crystal clear waters, and recreational opportunities. 

The lake covers an area of 1,551 square kilometers and has a maximum depth of 263 meters. It is fed by several rivers and streams, including the Adams River, which is famous for its annual salmon run. The lake has over 1,000 kilometers of shoreline, with numerous bays and coves to explore.

Shuswap Lake is a popular destination for boating, fishing, swimming, and other water sports. There are several marinas and boat launches around the lake, as well as numerous beaches and picnic areas. The lake is also home to several species of fish, including salmon, trout, and bass, making it a popular spot for fishing enthusiasts.

In addition to water-based activities, Shuswap Lake and its surrounding areas offer plenty of opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing. There are several provincial parks and wilderness areas around the lake, including Shuswap Lake Provincial Park and Mara Meadows Provincial Park.

The region surrounding Shuswap Lake is also home to several small towns and communities, including Salmon Arm, Sicamous, and Chase. These towns offer a range of accommodations, restaurants, and shops, making Shuswap Lake a popular destination for both locals and tourists alike.

The Salmon Run has become a popular tourist draw. There are now vendors that set up near the Salmon run so you can enjoy eating bannock while watching what is none less than an amazing feat of nature at work.  The best place to see the 4 year journey these Salmon make is where the Adam’s River meets Shuswap lake.
